EGR Block off plates are designed to reduce the heat in the combustion chamber at the back of the block. An EGR block-off plate effectively blocks off the EGR system, preventing the unburned fuel mixtures from combining with the fresh air from the intake headed for the engine. With your engine relying solely on the fresh air from the intake, the better combustion will lead to increased performance. If cause the engine warning light to come on when fitting the plate without whole, you can fit the plate with the hole in it to allow some exhaust gas to flow through.
